Colposcopy

The colposcopy clinic for Ayrshire is in the MacDonald Suite at Crosshouse hospital. It is an out-patient clinic. Visits usually take 10-20 minutes. Women attend because their GP or another doctor, has asked for the appointment

WHAT IS COLPOSCOPY?

Colposcopy is where a specialist examines the cervix using a type of microscope called a coloscope. It looks like a large pair of binoculars on a stand. It does not go inside you.
